Fieldbus PROFIBUS-DP protocol and MODBUS protocol are becoming more and more significant with the development of fieldbus technology and its application in industrial control engineering.MODBUS bus protocol was widely utilized in industry area at early stage, however, PROFIBUS-DP bus has become the predominant protocol with the fast development of modern industrial technology. The instruments using original MODBUS protocol couldn’t satisfy the functional requirements and on-site supervision of different protocols became more difficult because the environment of industrial site was complicated and communications among different protocols couldn’t be done via common interface. U-cos-II based protocol conversion module of real-time operating system could analyze the data frame structure of one bus protocol and then encapsule it to another bus protocol to solve the resistance and obstacle in communication between two protocols, which could realize the mutual consistency of two different protocols and the requirements of multifunctional protocol conversion modules in complicated environment and multifunctional gateways via carrying other function modules.The research contents of this project is to design U-cos-II based protocol conversion module of real-time operating system, using the LPC1788Cortex-M3core chip as the MCU and realizing the protocol conversion between MODBUS protocol and PROFIBUS-DP bus with PROFIBUS-DP slave protocol chip VPC3+C and the Hilscher PROFIBUS-DP Master Communication Module COM-CN-DPM and other functional extension.Works in this paper:①Transplant and research for u-cos-II operating system;②Research on PROFIBUS-DP and MODBUS;③Designing scheme of protocol conversion module;④Hardware design of protocol conversion module.
