As there is an increasing demand for multimedia services and data communication, wireless mobile communication has experienced a rapid development over the past decade. The fourth generation mobile communication has been widely used around the world. Compared to the previous generation of communication technology, the fourth generation technology has made the bandwidth become higher and the latency become lower. Under the environment of the wireless channel, the interference and decline that the high-speed data communication goes through have a more significant impact on the data. Therefore, researchers have paid more and more attention to the channel estimation and channel equalization, which are the important methods to eliminate the decline of channel signals as well as the interferences from the symbols and subcarriers. After analyzing the previous studies on the traditional channel estimation and the equalization algorithm, this paper proposed a design of the channel estimation and equalization, which is based on the platform of TD-LTE baseband hardware. Then this paper finished hardware implementation toward SOC. Due to the restrictions of the SOC design, there are high requirements for the implementation of the algorithm. In addition, it is quite complicated to implement the traditional MMSE channel estimation algorithm. Therefore, the design proposed by this paper aims to make the implementation easier and meet the performance requirements of TD-LTE systems at the same time. The channel estimation algorithm proposed in this paper is divided into three parts:the rough channel estimation, the time advance and frequency offset estimation and the refined channel estimation. After the rough channel estimation, the time advance and frequency offsets of the pilot signal would be calculated. In the refined channel estimation, it would eliminate the phase rotation by compensating the time advance. Then, in the frequency domain, the pilot signal would be filtered averagely. Finally, the frequency offset would be compensated and the estimation results of the two slots be averaged so that the results would be more accurate. In a word, this paper first introduced the studies on the channel estimation and equalization algorithm as well as the process and criteria of the SOC design. Then, this paper illustrated the structure and functions of the baseband platform under the TD-LTE system as well as the whole process of the hardware design and implementation. In the end, this paper conducted the comparative validation through the hardware simulation and Matlab simulation, and proved that this design met the performance requirements of TD-LTE systems.
