With the promoting of the third generation wireless mobile communication system, the speed of data transmission is required higher and higher. As the most significant technology in the evolution from the third generation to the fourth generation wireless system, LTE system, which adopted OFDM as the core technology, has completed the theory preparation, and proceeds to the implementation. Nowadays, the global technology leaders in communication companies are sparing no effort to working forward to the commercial use of LTE. In a period of time in the future, the implementation of LTE system must be a far-reaching hot spot.This graduation project has done some research about channel estimation and equalization from the implementation aspects, and has simulated some channel estimation and equalization algorithm such as LS and MMSE with MATLAB. Based on FPGA, the project has implemented channel estimation and equalization part of circuit used in TD-LTE uplink system, in accordance with 3GPP physical layer specifications. The circuit, which has passed strict logic and timing verification, has been programmed into FPGA and worked correctly. It can be used for simple practical applications.This thesis began with the basic theories, and briefly introduced the character of the channel of the wireless mobile communication system, the OFDM system structure, the OFDM subcarrier modulation method, the character of SC-FDMA technique in LTE system uplink, and the LTE frame structure. Further, it analyzed LS algorithm and MMSE algorithm which are commonly used in the channel estimation, compared their performance, and gave computer simulation result. Finally, the thesis introduced the channel estimation and equalization circuit structure which is implemented using digital MMSE algorithm, the process of functional and timing verification, and the method of FPGA programming test.
