Low carbon environment has become a key issue in recent years. While IT Industry develops ina high speed, the problem of high energy consumption and low utilization of energy also appeares.To ensure reliability, traditional network usually provides excess supply and resources redundancydesign to make the network withstand sudden peak load. Most of the network equipment work24hours according to the peak load design while most of the time the network load is far lower thanthe peak load.Green network is for the purpose of reducing the network energy.It can change thestate of transformation equipment for low energy consumption.This thesis first analyzes the energy consumption of current network communication system,intrduces several traditional energy-saving strategy and NCP mechanism. Some Green NetworkEvalution Standard are introduced to evaluate the system performance when energy-savingmechanism is used.Secondly, this thesis introduces the timer dormancy mechanism and analyzes the messagerequest interval prediction and dormancy scheme based on unit time`messagerequests to predictdormancy. These two algorithms improve the traditional timer dormancy mechanism while notaffect network performance and effectively reduce the packets loss.Finally, this thesis introduces two traditional routing energy-saving protocols; GNRE schemeand energy saving strategy based on OSPF protocol, and then analyzes two new algorithms basedon the schemes upon.
