As continued growth-of the network bandwidth capacity and increasing needs ofindividual users,how to improve the level of network intelligence,and then enhance thevalue of acurrent pipeline,become the key issues operators need to solve. In recent years,the rapid development of internet strengthened operators’ capacity of the networkbandwidth. In terms of access network, the bandwidth the users accessed continuouslyimproved from512kbit/s,2Mbit/s to8Mbit/s. with the arrangement of “optical access forreplacing copper access”, fixed network is generally possessed with the access capability of20Mbit/s, and registering100Mbit/s to household is the next developing goal of networkbandwidth. With the gradual introduction of LTE, mobile access network will be able toprovide100Mbit/s shared bandwidth, accessing to the era of mobile broadband internet.The improvement in operators’ network capacity provided strong support for carrying outthe whole business operation in a deep-going way, and promoted constant emerging ofricher innovative businesses, especially the emerging of new applications and newoperation models, taking mobile internet and integration of three networks as the typicalrepresentative. The emerging of new applications and newoperation models, taking mobile internet and integration of three networks as the typicalrepresentative, proposed higher requirements and technical challenges to the networkoperators, which mainly presented in the sharply increased bandwidth demands, providingquality assurance as required, improving interactive experience, strengthened uncertainty ofthe data traffic’s flow direction, etc. Under this circumstance, network operators shouldimprove the intellectuality of the network on the basis of enlarging and widening thenetwork, so as to realize intelligent resource matching specific to user needs and behavior,transferring network from traditional extensive channel to intelligent channel, supportingdevelopment of new business, as well as providing users with flexible experience asrequired and more convenient and personalized service. During this process, the role of operators in the industry chain changed from the provider of transparent channel into thedominator of intelligent channel.Focusing on the first step of intelligent pipe construction, top-speed pipe, this paper analyzes the contradiction between the bandwidth capacity of current domestic mainstream operators’broadband access technology and the market demands for a certain period of timein the future, thus introducing the10GEPON and discussing the feasibility of applying10GEPON technology into the construction of top-speed pipe from several aspects including technology, engineering cost, etc. finally, according to the present network situation of domestic operators and through the network and the engineering practice, it verifies the network evolution scheme and tests the stability and bandwidth capacity of10G EPON network.
