In recent years, with the development of wireless communication technology, the terminalbecomes more intelligent, widescreen and multi-mode, and users prefer to use smart mobileterminal for media service requests and have higher requirements for quality of experience. Inaddition, with the fast development of streaming media technology and mobile Internet, mobilevideo service has become the most popular business. However, due to high dependence on thehardware and software of video services and the processing power and video format supportcapabilities varies from different terminals, how to satisfy users’ service requests with differentterminals and how to do content adaption have become the main research topic of service providers.According to application requirements of video monitoring, a video monitoring system basedon service adaption technology is designed and implemented. Firstly, the overall design scheme isproposed in accordance with the overall design goals. The scheme is mainly composed of two partsi.e., the server and client. The server includes streaming media server implementation process andrelated content adaptation server design and software implementation process. In this thesis, it isrealized by system cutting and function extension of Darwin streaming server. The contentconversion and selection is done by streaming server based on the decision-making information.The information is composed of the static terminal context information and the dynamic networkcontext information. And the decision-making algorithm is introduced in detail in this thesis. Theclient consists of the fixed PC terminal and the Android mobile terminal, so different types ofsoftware are required. Design and implementation of the software in detail are also given. Finally,the experimental verification platforms are built based on the proposed platform, and systemperformances such as real-time, time-delay and throughput of system are analyzed. Theexperimental results show that the proposed system has good performances in functions andstability.
