With the rapid expansion of the Internet, the problem of IPv4address shortage has become more and more severe. In order to seize the benefit in the development of the next generation Internet, countries around the world have speeded up to transition to the next generation Internet. However, the deployment and application of IPv6is a long-term procedure. During the IPv6transition period, interconnections between IPv4and IPv6networks are not possible because IPv4and IPv6protocols are not compatible to each other. Researchers have spent lots of energies on developing IPv4/IPv6transition mechanisms. Amongst the mechanisms,4over6access network transition technology has advantages over others and features high availability, which makes it a relatively effective and complete transition solution. As the experimental networks for4over6transition technology emerge, network management is playing an important role to provide better4over6service and guarantee the better experience for commercial usage.This paper discusses the deployment of IPv6around the world, and introduces transition technology research status in the domestic and overseas, which describes the advantages and disadvantages of the transition. Then this paper analyzes the development trend of the transition technology. However, there are still many problems to consider during the deployment period. Then this paper analyzes the demand for deployment, and based on4over6transition technology’s application scenario, design the corresponding deployment scheme.With the large scale application of the4over6transition technology, and in order to enhance the network management, this paper designes the corresponding network management system. First the current network management protocol and method is researched. Then based on the characteristic of4over6transition technology and the demand of the management, the overall structure of the network management system is designed. The system is divided into two parts, one part is a network server, which running the network management platform, and realizing the equipment information acquisition, storage, processing and display; Another part of is the managed devices, there need to define private mib of4over6transition technology, and by running the agent process in order to communication with network management platform.Finally, this paper introduces the detailed design and implementation of network management system, which has completed the unified management of network equipments. Including traffic and user number monitoring and graphical display. In addition to4over6transition technology, realize the monitoring of Encapsulation table on the tunnel concentrater, which the user can view the address mapping information, as well as the distribution of the address and port.
