With the rapid development of information and communication technology, cars are changing from simple transport tools into mobile information service tools. Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has an enormous market potential. Although the needs for IoV services are great, the needs haven’t driven the development of IoV services industry. One of the reasons is that the effectiveness validation of IoV services is difficult. To address this issue, the thesis introduced an Internet of Vehicles Simulation System. By simulating and comparing the traffic situation before and after apply the IoV service, we can evaluate the effectiveness of the service.The IoV simulation environment not only needs to support communication between vehicles or between vehicles and roadside unit, but also needs to describe the traffic conditions. In the traditional urban traffic simulation systems, there are mature road network and vehicle models. By using computer animation technology, the traffic situation can be very intuitive represented. So this thesis decided to build the IoV Simulation System based on a traffic simulation software.At first, the thesis researched about traffic simulation software, and decided to choose TransModeler to do the secondary development. After that, this thesis analyzed the requirements of the IoV Simulation System thoroughly, and designed the system basic architecture based on the requirements. This thesis divided the IoV Simulation System into Object Agent Module and Manage and Scheduling Module, and the thesis is focused on the design and implementation of the Object Agent Module. Aimed at the traffic objects such as vehicles, roadside hotspots, sensors and so on, the thesis extended the corresponding agents and gave a detailed description of their behavior models and processing flow. By extending the agents, the traffic objects can communication with each other. Besides, the thesis added electric vehicles and charging stations into the system, which are not presented in the former traffic simulation system. In order to simulate the electric vehicles and the charging stations, the thesis gave a solution of electric vehicle battery simulation and charging station scheduling simulation. At last, the thesis summarized the related work and had pointed out the future research directions.
