The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is an open collaborative system based on the integration of people, vehicles and the network environment. In the study of IoV, the real environment in which the vehicles are running can’t fully meet the requirements of IoV service verification such as time, traffic conditions, network capacity requirements, which make it difficult to validate IoV service. To solve this problem, it is necessary to study IoV mesoscopic simulation system and verify the validity of the algorithm by simulating the IoV traffic environment and communication environment with semi-physical simulation means, and evaluate the effectiveness of the service. Different from traditional traffic simulation, IoV mesoscopic simulation system should not only describe the traffic conditions, simulation and presentation, but also establish an interface between the physical system and simulation system and solve the problem of physical device adaptation with simulation systems to ensure the effectiveness of the semi-physical simulation process.Firstly, the paper analyzed the overall architecture of IoV mesoscopic simulation system, summarized the basic requirement of the establishment of IoV mesoscopic simulation system with secondary development based on traffic simulation software TransModeler. Then, proposed the program which needs simulation proxy layer to achieve the join of IoV mesoscopic simulation system, Operating service verification platform and analog terminal through the in-depth consideration of the characteristics and mechanisms of interaction logic simulation and interface requirements for physical systems and focused on the analysis of the simulation proxy layer functional needs. According to the results of the needs analysis, the paper designed the functional structure of simulation proxy layer, divided it into three layers including:access adapter module, access control module and simulation proxy module. Then, defined the interface between simulation proxy layer, operating service verification platform and terminals and the communication interface between simulation system focusing on the object mapping mechanism, instruction interactive control mechanism, and completed the interactive process design. Subsequently, the paper provided a detailed design and implement for each function module and tested to verify the function of simulation proxy layer. Finally, the paper summarized the related work and proposed future research directions.
