With the rapid development and widely application of information technology, themonitor methods of farmland information system are improved notably. However, there arestill some problems in this field remaining to be solved. Usually farmland is in irregularlydistribution, which causes difficult management for wire and other devices. And after theadvent of3S technology in modern agriculture, more collecting areas, more different typesand more accuracy are required on data from farmland which could make any influence tothe plants. It is challenged for SCM data acquisition monitoring system in traditionalagriculture to meet those requirents.ARM is the most universal RISC architecture for embedded systems, which is easilyextensible and provides highly performance power at a lower cost. It has been widely usedin so many embedded solutions including agriculture fields since after ARM Holdingsdeveloped it.This paper proposed an architecture with a server based on ARM for farmlandmonitor system. We selected Samsung S3C2440and adopted Linux running on it. Underthis robust architecture, users can manage and exchange farmland data efficiently, andmake the best decision.The main research contents are included:(1) Analyzed the current situation of domestic and foreign farmland informationmonitoring system, discussed the researching background and significance, and concludethe development trend of farmland information monitoring system based on ARMembedded technology;(2) Did further research on architectural of ARM microprocessor, features ofembedded operating system and key technologies of system development, and madepreliminary designation.(3) Transplanted bootloader, Linux kernel, QT etc. and re-compiled the file system(4) Designed and implemented the communication protocol between the server andsensors and data frame format. Implemented server applications based on embeddedLinux,which is on TCP/IP.(5) Designed and implemented CGI programs on embedded environment in order tointeract with users visually.
