Now we have entered the era of information sharing, accompanied by the rapid growth of network traffic and users’ growing demand for streaming service. Relying on the huge bandwidth, intelligent control of the intelligent optical network and features and implementation mechanism of video service, video service oriented intelligent optical networks are in full swing.The current performance evaluation is based on performance evaluation of video service and optical network. Video service performance evaluation is based mainly on the quality of video streaming. Streaming video quality assessment is based on subjective and objective levels; Optical network performance evaluation is based on the existing test standards, which most considers the underlying performance parameters, such as eye diagrams, link loss, latency, etc. However, these two aspects are relatively parallel, so the overall performance of a video service-oriented intelligent optical networking system is not able to evaluate. The direct impact is that comprehensive performance evaluation data can’t be accessed, and it will further lead to waste of resources and can’t provide the basis for construction of future network.To effectively solve this problem, this paper proposes an overall performance evaluation method for video service oriented intelligent optical network. With study on performance evaluation of traditional video service and traditional optical network, combined with features, architecture and implementation mechanism of video service-oriented intelligent optical network and the OSI/ISO model, we propose a comprehensive performance evaluation method. The assessment consists. of five levels, and it can be used to analyze network performance results from multiple levels and multiple perspectives.Finally, based on intelligent optical networking platform set up in the lab, the overall method is used to complete the performance evaluation in order to verify the overall method. And it’s expected that this evaluation can provide a reference for other network systems.
