With the increasing complexity of Internet, the quality of service (QoS) is required to improve gradually. The diversification of network business puts forward higher demand to the transmission performance of network. It becomes more and more important to ensure the efficiency, stability and reliability of network. So in recent years, network measurement and route optimization play a decisive role in IP network.However, the study of these two issues mostly focuses on designation of separate system of these two parts, either designing for only network measurement or route optimization. Few systems combine these two parts into one situation. The defect of particular systems is gradually prominent with the development of network. A Network measurement system may have the following drawbacks:1) It can only measure the network performance and cannot provide a specific solution to the network problems based on the actual network condition;2) There hardly appears a measurement system to suit different measurement requirements and the scalability and operability of the system is poor when it is not suitable for the network condition. A route optimization system may have the following drawbacks:1) the operation of route optimization lacks of pertinence and cannot truly reflect the current network performance;2) many route optimization systems need the cooperation of the routers when they proceed. This may bring some other problems, so it is difficult to implement in reality.This thesis combine the network measurement with route optimization and then designs and implements an Internet route optimization system based on network measurement referred to the existing technology and system. The system has following functions:1) The system firstly measures the network performance and get the performance parameters;2) the parameters are analyzed in the route optimization algorithm to obtain an optimal end-to-end route;3) the system joins the abnormal data processing mechanism so the abnormal data in the measured data can be rejected and the accuracy of the system can be kept;4) the system joins the data exhibition mechanism so that the network administrators can know the actual network status and then handle the network problems by checking the network data.Finally, this system is tested in the laboratory. The test results show that the system can measure the network parameters accurately and provide a correct optimal path as a result based on the current network performance. Under the condition of10measurement packets, the time consumption of system processing only accounts for nearly1.4%of that of the whole task, which is a very good performance. The abnormal data processing mechanism can raise the accuracy of the whole measured data. The total system perform very well.
