With the development of computer technology, Graphical User Interface (GUI) greatlyfacilitates the use of embedded products. For the embedded devices have the characteristics of smallscreen, low resolution, scarce computing resources, less input ways, etc., and the existing GUIdevelopment technology is primarily for the desktop computers, researching the GUI developmentmethods for embedded system has the practical value.This thesis analyzes the characteristics of existing GUI development technology on embeddedsystem. The common problems of GUI design on embedded system, such as the soft keyboard showand hide, multi-screen adaptation, etc., are grouped in four problem areas: utilizing screen space,flexible user interface, interaction mechanisms and framework design. Each problem is presentedusing a design pattern approach, general guidelines for solving the problem and a number ofrelevant design patterns are discussed. Combined with the application requirements of videoconference, it discusses the development methods of GUI on embedded system, and a GUI of videoconference is designed and implemented. The GUI prototype design and six critical issues of GUIimplementation, the realization of navigation and controls, the implementation of the soft keyboard,the soft keyboard show and hide, multi-screen adaptation, system information monitoring, scrollingof chat message are analyzed and explained in detail. The method of generating GUI test casesbased on finite state machine is researched in this thesis. The functionality, robustness and usabilityof embedded video conference GUI are tested.
