With the continuous expansion of the University scale, the scale of university canteen is also growing. The amount of information for logistics and catering services skyrockets as well, which overburdens the administration of the university canteen. As the number of the university campuses increases, there exists no integrated information system and thus results in many information silos. Such a situation worsens the management. Therefore, how to integrate these information silos has become a imperative challenge.This thesis analyzes the functional requirements for our university canteens, and implements a Web-based management information system for our university canteens, where many software construction techniques are exploited, such as software design patterns(MVC, IoC, etc.), and some software platforms like Java EE and OracleiO also contribute to this project.The main contributions of this thesis are as follows:(1) Performed the requirements analysis of the university canteen management system, including functional requirements, performance requirements, reliability and availability requirements, interface requirements and constructing the conceptual model of the database system.(2) Integrated the open-source workflow engine OS Workflow into our university canteen management system by exploiting some important design patterns, such as model-view-controller(MVC) pattern, Inversion of Control (IoC) pattern, and consequently reducing module coupling and the complexity of the system while improving the reusability of components and the reliability of the system.(3) Integrated QR code functionality into the server component and achieving the codec core function. The use of two-dimensional bar code technology in certificate generation improves the security and ensures data consistency.(4) Implemented a web-based university canteen management system.The successful construction and application of the system not only integrated the existing information silos, but also improved the management quality of our university canteen.
