Water is indispensable substance for agriculture, industry and production. Nowadays,water shortage restricts the sustainable development of our country, so avoiding the wasteof water has become an urgent task of China. The consumption of farmland Irrigation wateraccounts for a large proportion of the total water resources. We often judge crop watershortage by the traditional experience which caused the serious waste of water resource, sothe premise of saving water is the accurate measurement of the soil moisture. Currently,FDR soil moisture sensor has rapid and convenient features, so it had been widely used tomeasure soil moisture. However, there are some disadvantages, such as non-linear,zero driftand temperature cross-sensitivity,the accuracy of the measurement results completelydepended on the stability and precision levels of itself. In order to improve the performanceof FDR soil moisture sensor, this study designed intelligent FDR soil moisture sensorthrough combining FDR soil moisture sensor and MCU.This paper studies the principle and the indicators of the FDR soil moisture sensor,makes a lot of experiments and analyzes the empirical data.Then the algorithm which canimprove linearity, sensitivity drift, temperature cross-sensitivity of FDR soil moisturesensor was proposed. This paper designed intelligent function modules through software,including fast calibration, nonlinear self-correction, temperature compensation functionmodules. FDR soil moisture sensor becomes intelligent, the measurement results are morereliable.
