Visual simulation is widely used in every research fields at present. Compared withsingle channel visual system, multi-channel visual simulation can provide users with alarger field of vision and a stronger immersion. It can meet the requirements aboutdisplay technology of various fields better. Traditional multi-channel visual simulationsystem use professional graphics workstations as the drive, it is hard to promotion withhigh prices. The visual simulation system based on PC cluster use multiple displaychannels of multiple computer to produce a whole picture can meet the requirementabout the bigger display size and higher resolution ratio of people, has a higherperformance/cost ratio and a better scalability, showing us high value of research andusing.First, this paper summarized the development of visual simulation system and theresearch status at home and abroad, and briefed the computer cluster and thegeneration process of3D scene.Secondly, discussed the different implementation of multi-channel visualsimulation system based on PC cluster from three levels include the links betweencluster nodes, the hardware organization and software architecture. Design anarchitecture of multi-channel visual simulation system based on PC cluster according tothe advantages and disadvantages about each implementation.Again, this paper introduces the traditional split screen method (split screenmethod based on rotate the view volume and split screen method based on the off-axisprojection) of multi-channel visual simulation system based on PC cluster, and proposedan easy method which based on Projection transformation to split the screen in order toavoid the shortage of traditional method in which will bending and need complexcalculation. Briefed the commonly used data and frame synchronization methods of multi-channel visual simulation and discussed their advantages and disadvantages.Finally, using OSG as graphics rendering engine to exploit the multi-channel visualsimulation system based on PC cluster, and using the method above in order to verifythe validity of the method, the experimental results show that compared with thetraditional split screen method based on rotating visual volume this method can avoidbending and split screen easy and flexible, achieve the purpose which Expand the fieldof vision or have a bigger display size conveniently. System can keep the visual andinteraction in every channel is synchronous and the Picture is fluent.
