In the development of infrared seeker or the visual system, infrared target simulationtechnology provides a precise controlled experimental conditions for tests, makes the testsof infrared seeker more accurate and reliable. As a core part of the target simulation, IRtarget simulator can be used to simulate realistic infrared target under laboratory conditions,to obtain infrared seeker situation under different conditions, and therefore targets todevelop the corresponding infrared target simulator is important.To meet the simulation requirement for the intensity of infrared radiation and motioncharacteristics of target in the missile test, two types of target simulator are designed in thepaper, coaxial reflective and off-axis reflective optical structure. Based on coaxial reflectiveoptical structure, the paper conducts mechanical design and experimental tests, completesthe development of infrared target coaxial simulator. The research content includes:1) Reflective infrared target simulator coaxial optical system design: By the analysis ofthe traditional reflective collimator, a collimated optical system is designed with opticaldesign software Zemax and corresponding evaluation of image quality and thetolerance analysis are carried out.2) Off-axis reflective infrared target simulator optical system design: According to thetechnical requirements of the aperture, off-axis and the axis focal length and otherparameters of off-axis parabolic mirror, designs the system structure diagram by Zemaxoptical design software.3) Coaxial reflective infrared target simulator design and: According to the coaxial designprinciples of infrared target simulator system,the mechanical structure is designed, andthe image quality of collimation system Cassegrain optical system is tested.4) Coaxial reflective infrared target simulator experiments: Analyzes the sources of thesystem light parallelism error, then, experimental detects the system light parallelism.Experimental results show that the system has high image quality, the error of lightparallelism is8.89", less than1′, meets the system design requirements. In this paper, thedevelopment of infrared target simulator provides an effective technical means to testinfrared seeker angular movements and intensity of infrared radiation.
