Scientific Collaboration Between "985Universities" And The Chinese Academy Of Sciences

“985Universities” and Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) are wellknown as two cores of Chinese knowledge innovation system. How topromote their collaborations and enhance their overall performance in thesystem has caused more and more attention.This study based on the analysis of “985Universities” and CAS’sresearch papers published in the SCIE database and emphasizes on thedevelopment trend of collaborations between paper numbers, subjects,institutions, cities and the collaborative influence of papers. By presentingthe history and tendency of the collaborations revealed by “985Universities” and CAS, bibliometrics methods are used in the analysis. Theaims are to make contributions to understand collaborations deeply, to helpfinding problems more scientifically in the collaborations, as well as todevelop more targeted policies to promote bilateral collaborations underthe existing institutional framework.The major findings of this study are as follows:1. The collaborationtrends between “985Universities” and CAS show a significant increase inseveral development stages;2. The collaboration papers mostly focus onsome subjects and universities;4. Collaboration papers have alreadydistributed in29cities across the country by the year2012;5. Thecorporative papers have more influences than non-cooperative papers.
