The energy problem of computing center has been concerned by moreand more people. In computing center, the computing resource is managedand allocated by virtualization technology, therefore, the balance betweenpower and performance in virtualization is coming a important researchpoint. In virtualization, Virtual Machine Manager plays an important roleon the resource allocating. Because the application which was run onvirtual CPU is unknown, in traditional method of virtual CPU mapping tophysical CPU didn’t consider the effect caused by the type of virtual CPUon the performance and energy of system, so, there is obvious room forimprovement in virtualization. In this paper, to determine the balance of Energy-Delay product asenergy performance standards, we classified the type of virtual CPU toCPU-bound, memory-bound and network I/O-bound. Through theanalyzing of resource contention and load balancing, we focus on thestatus of virtual CPU and get the method of virtual CPU mapping whichcan improve the performance and energy of the system. Based on themapping method, we change the traditional method of frequency scalingby the feature of memory-bound application.Through the benchmark experiment on Xen, the result prove that themethod of virtual CPU mapping and frequency scaling presented by thispaper can improve the performance of the system without increase theenergy consumption, and it can improve the Energy-Delay product of thesystem and make better performance and energy balance.
