Stereoscopic display technology makes the viewing experience more realistic andimmersive. In recent years, three-dimensional display technology research graduallybecomes a research focus. Unlike conventional flat panel display, the stereoscopicdisplay quality can affect viewing comfort, also can cause severe visual fatigue. Dueto the complexity of the three-dimensional imaging system, currently, the evaluationof stereoscopic display comfort is mainly subjective evaluation. Subjective evaluationis mainly based on memory, there are individual differences. A method, which isbased on human characteristics, objective, accurate and efficient on the evaluation ofstereoscopic display comfort, not only can evaluate the comfort of stereoscopicdisplay system, but also is more conducive to the healthy development of stereoscopicdisplay industry.This paper studies the technical characteristics of event-related potentials (ERP),uses the advantage of its high time resolution to study the real time EEG differencesof people, while watching2D and3D content. On this basis, experimental paradigmsare designed to study the feasibility of EEG to evaluate stereoscopic display comfort.Finally, use appropriate experimental paradigm to evaluate stereoscopic displaycomfort of the vertical deviation, rotation deviation and size deviation of thestereoscopic display views, draw the corresponding comfortable viewing targets.Experimental results show that, regardless in the case of attention ornon-attention, P300component evoked by3D images is greater than2D’s. The EEGcan be used to evaluate the viewing comfort of the three-dimensional display system,and the amplitude of N270component which is evoked by the differences ofdouble-stimulus, can evaluate the effect of the deviation of stereoscopic views onstereoscopic display comfort. Finally, combined with the behavioral data, reach thefollowing conclusion, in the best viewing position, the vertical parallax comfortableviewing system presents should be less than20pixels, the rotation deviation is lessthan0.72degrees, the size deviation is less than1%.
