With the development of4G communications systems, real-time games, e-commerce, digitalhighway, earthquake monitoring network and other digital broadband multimedia services, aswell as supercomputers, integrated Internet services, cloud computing, storage and high-speedsignal processing technology, the generation of high-speed, high accuracy of the clock signal hasbeen pay more and more attention. Due to the electronic bottleneck restriction, the traditionalgeneration method of electric clock signal already cannot satisfy the demands of thedevelopment of society and technology. According to this, a kind of high precision andadjustable frequency clock signal generating method based on passive mode-locked polarization-maintaining ring fiber laser has been studied. On the basis of the principles of the mode-locked,making full use of the technology of semiconductor saturable absorber and using the delay linetechnology, series of high precision and high frequency clock signal have been produced. Theresults of experiment show that the phase noise performance of the clock signal generated by thelaser is good and the timing jitter is better than90femtoseconds. The clock signal can be insystems such as high-speed broadband mobile communications, the internet of things. Thefollowing content have been studied in this thesis:1、 The deficiency of the existing technology of clock signal is studied. The generation methodsof the optical clock signal have been compared and the existing problems and deficiencieshave been listed.According to the research, the target of the thesis is cleared.2、 The basic principle of the mode-locked is introduced. The characteristics of active andpassive mode-locking are analyzed. The passive mode-locking technology is focused on.3、 The characteristics of non-polarization-maintaining and polarization-maintaining arestudied. The type of laser cavity is analyzed and the optical fiber dissolves technologyis studied. The polarization-maintaining ring fiber laser is adopted in this thesis to generatethe signals.4、 The platform of the clock signal generating method based on mode-locked polarization-maintaining ring fiber laser is established. The composition and working principle of theplatform are introduced. The material selection requirements are proposed. The test method and principle of the clock signal are introduced. The test results are analyzed. At last, thevalidity of the method is verified.
