There are vast amounts of information resources on the network, making thecomputer to be a significant impact on traditional television. Especially portabledevices, such as mobile phones and Pad, now have entered the homes of ordinarypeople.watching television programs with playing microblogging with friends hasbecome a trend,"multi-screen life" has been a real come to our life. The arrival of"multi-screen life" to people also bring a lot of trouble, though portable devices,televisions, computers have their advantages, but the traditional television is difficultto meet the needs of users now, people put more and more time on computers andportable devices. Television seems to become a kind of decoration. But because theadvantages of high resolution and large screen, its position still can not be replaced.The future of television will be away from the traditional and Intelligent, togetherwith other terminals as the content of the carrier to achieve multi-screen sharing andinteraction, Which will give full play to their respective advantages."Multi-screeninteractive" era is coming. Choosing IPTV to watch TV is a trend in the future.multi-screen interactive has become a hot research topic and achieving "multi-screeninteraction" on the IPTV set-top boxes has great practical significance.In this paper, take DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) as a researchsubject,The overall design scheme achieving "multi-screen interaction" on the IPTVset-top boxes is proposedcommunication design between modules of multi-screeninteractive especially the communication among the core module and theirimplementation are described in detail.The main study of the author were as follows:(1) DLNA especially Universal Plug and Play (Universal Plug and Play, UPnP)were carefully studied and the communication between devices and control points ofUPnP network were described in detail.(2) The communicate between modules of multi-screen interactive process witheach other were overall designed. According to UPnP specifications, the UPnPservice process which can run in set-top boxes were designed and implemented.Inter-process communication was studied.using socket communication for the communications between browsers and UPnP service processes was designed andimplemented.(3) For the Photo Gallery two innovations were designed. Instead of usingbrowser QT improves the speed for the picture image display shows. Design andimplement a multi-picture display compared to the traditional single picture displayincrease the diversity of picture show.(4) The interactive communication between the UPnP service process and thecontrol point was tested and verified, especially discovery, equipment description,equipment control, and a capture device event stage. On the pictures and videomulti-screen interaction practice tests was performed and verify compliance with thedesign requirements.This design will not be restricted by device operating system and users caninteract with IPTV set-top boxes by just installing a application software whichsupports DLNA on mobile device.
