Along with the information needs of large enterprises have increasingly becomesaturated, more than98%enterprises(about5million small and medium enterprises) in Chinahave become a new force of UC on the market, which can not be ignored, and many UCmanufacturers and telecom operators pin their hope on this "blue ocean" for the new marketgrowth. Meanwhile, many manufacturers, including international UC manufacturers,continue to implement their localization strategy and promote their unified communicationsolutions for small and medium-sized enterprises in the domestic market, but these marketingsolutions do not achieve good results. The main reason of this phenomenon is that the smalland medium-sized enterprises are facing the practical problems like "the lack of money andlabor force, and the weak information foundation", and the unified communication systemdeployment cost on the market is too much high, so the deployment is unable to meet themulti-industrial characteristic needs of many small and medium enterprises. Therefore, thedomestic market has an urgent need for an unified communication product withcharacteristics of low cost, easy to deployment and complete functions to meet the needs ofsmall and medium enterprise customers, thus it not only enhances the workers’ efficiency, butalso greatly reduces the communication cost of enterprise.This paper did a research about the characteristics and demand of the domestic unifiedcommunication system. On the basis of the foreign sipXecs(sipX Enterprice CommunicationServer) project, it realized an unified communication system that met the small and mediumenterprise need of the functions of telephone, fax, telephone conference, e-mail and instantcontact. The system is divided into six functional modules, that is agency service, registrationservice, IP relay, media services, instant communication and configuration management.Agent service and registration service modules are based on SIP protocol and they realizeauthentication, message routing functions of SIP; IP relay module realizes the voice andvideo call function through the SIP protocol accessing to the telecommunication networks;media service module realizes the conference call, the operator, voice mail and call centerIVR function; instant communication module realizes the text, picture and other multimediadata function; based on WEB technology, configuration management module realizes theconfiguration management function that is in line with the domestic user habits more.The integrated system succeeded to be deployed and applied in a medium-sizedenterprises’ LAN. As a result, the system deployment with a low cost and fast speed, satisfied enterprises’ unified communications business needs and achieved the system design goal.After the deployment of unified communications system, employees in enterprises could useunified communications system resources anytime and anywhere, which included telephone,fax, telephone conference, e-mail, OA and instant messaging system, etc. Besides, after thedeployment of user feedback system, it improved employees’ communication efficiency andenhanced the corporate image.
