PPA Student Management Based On System For Mobile Terminals

Currently, the construction of higher education in China is in a period of rapiddevelopment. Consequently the college scale becomes larger and larger, and the numbers ofcollege students are constantly rising, it gets more and more difficult to gasp the living andstudying state of the students. The students management becomes a more and more oneroustask and the workload also increases manyfold. Therefore, to reform the student managementinformatization is urgent. With the continuous development of integrated circuit technology,the mobile terminal shows its powerful ability for information processing. It is not onlylimited to calling and messages sending in the past, it also becomes an integrated toolprocessing network terminal platform information. Today, the traditional PC has beencompletely unable to satisfy the demand for mobile terminal’s access anytime and anwhere,so there is an urgent need to change the past student management platform by adding mobileterminals. Thus, the mobile phone users can log into and access the student systems atanytime and any place.In this paper, the idea of software engineering as a guide, combined with the author’sown practical student management experience in the police academy, the analysis of basicrules and regulations of the Provincial Police Academy(PPA) and author’s own research onthe advanced management methods from other universities, the analysis of feasibility toachieve such administrative functions as PPA students leave system and other relatedfunctions on mobile terminals, the student information management system based on mobileterminal devices has finally been developed and tested. Based on B/S architecture, using Javalanguage and Oracle database, this system is developed for mobile devices based on theAndroid. This paper describes respectively the background and significance of the systemdevelopment, the current situation of domestic and foreign-related research. Aftersummarizing the comprehensive investigation and a large quantities of analyses, concerningwith basic requirement of the system on the functional and non-reactive properties, combiningwith the requirements and guidelines for student management to follow "a police routine “,the school administration plans to establish a management information system in our school.Mobile-based student management system has strong practicability, and has changed thetraditional student management. By using mobile devices in the routine management platformthe user can log in and access management system anytime and anywhere. Because thesystem can not only been connected to the network terminals PC, but also linked to the phonemobile terminals effectively, the PPA teachers’ managing students can be done either throughPC or through the mobile terminal platform, therefore the student management system tobring a great deal of work convenience for PPA teachers. And compared with traditionalmanagement methods, the system not only achieves cost savings, eases the environmentalproblems caused by the abuse of the paper, but also reduces errors caused by manualoperation, thereby improves work efficiency.
