Optical circulator is an important optical fiber communication optical passivecomponent. It makes the light signal can only in accordance with the relevantprovisions of port transmission sequence. With the continuous development of opticalfiber communication technology, it has become the present and the future of one ofthe important components in optical fiber communication system. Optical circulator iswidely used in the system of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing, optical fiberamplifier, dispersion compensation and Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer and soon based one this feature. Nowadays, high performance, small volume and low costfor the light device are an important development trend. It has great market potential.This thesis first introduces optical circulator research background, the mainapplication and the situation of domestic and foreign development. Secondly, it givesus the principle of circulator, basic types and technical parameters. A compactstructure of three-port circulator which is combined with the practical application isintroduced in the third part. Meantime, it will show us the general overview of opticalpath and the optimization parameters of the components. The forth part introduces thespecific manufacture process of the whole device, the test methods of key parameter.The authoritative quality certification for optical circulator is introduced at the sametime. Finally is the summary and prospect of the whole thesis.The article is mainly to a double magnetic photonic crystal structure of threeports circulator. Design a concrete implementation scheme of the compact structure ofthe three ports circulator. Adopt the TEC Fiber to reduce the beam of the collimator,thus the size of optical element could be small. Design the birefringent crystals withtilt angle to realize symmetric structure of the light path. The design is good to align.We use a special type of dispersion prism as the loop parts to realize a specific anglematch with dual fiber collimator. Through above design optimization, productionprocess, the sample production is successfully complete, and performance is excellent.The qualification is passed by the industry standard authentication. The analysis couldbe the guidance of the volume production.
