Rapid sewing speed, high efficiency and good sewing quality, the three main advantages ofthe high stability and intelligence of Electronic Pattern Sewing Machine Control System, whichis based on embedded technology, have made it meet with the requirements needed in thebooming apparel industry. While the present development of high performance electronicpattern sewing machine in China is still at an initial stage, considering that and the availableadvanced control technology, this work has designed a single-processor electronic patterncontrol system with S3C2440microprocessor chip. It has been implanted in the embeddedLinux operating system to integrate the control section and information processing section intoone system. The following topics have been carried out in this work:The control system’s base board hardware circuit, including power supply, USB readingmodule, the ether net module, serial communication module, JTAG debug module, touch screeninterface circuit etc, were designed based on S3C2440core board. Meanwhile, the machine’sembroidery frame, the spindle motor’s motion control and the three-axis coordinated motionmodel have been investigated. Particularly, the drive circuit for the embroidery frame wasdesigned either.The embedded control system software development platform of Electronic PatternSewing Machine was set up with the following steps. First, implant the Embedded Linuxreal-time operating system to the controller, containing loading the embedded system bootprogram U-boot, building embedded Linux kernel and mounting NFS root file system. Then,create an embedded cross-compiler environment and Qt graphics library environment toprovide effective environment for the host-target development model.The control system’s software was designed. By analyzing the storage format anddecoding method of DSB format pattern file, both the header and body file, the human machineinterface with Qt graphic was projected to achieve the functions of pattern displaying, scaling,mirroring, real-time dynamic displaying and post pattern management.The Linux Device Driver to connect human machine interface and hardware device wasdeveloped, and a system for commissioning was also established.The system commissioning showed that this electronic pattern control system can beoperated stably with favourable human machine interface. Consequently, the embroidery framemoving along the pattern can be achieved as it has satisfied the design requirements.
