As a social issue attracting public attention, studies on rumor spreading are facingseveral kinds of challenges, such as interdisciplinary, diversification of spreading agentsand nonsupport of repeated experiments. In the views of qualitative or simply quantitativeresearch, scholars in the field of psychology and sociology proposed many theories andhypothesis about rumor spreading. However, most of those achievements, which lack of areasonable and unified method describing rumor knowledge, is not accessible for actualsimulation experiment. With the assistance of mathematical modeling and computationalsimulation, scholars of information science carried out many significant researches. Due tothe overdependence of math model, those researches have to simplify spreading agents,thus, it is hard to combine existing research results from psychology and sociology.Therefore, this paper proposes an effective method to do research on rumor spreading,which not only absorb the knowledge of qualitative description into computationaltechnology, but also combine qualitative analysis with quantitative research.In the aspect of theoretical analysis and realisation technique, this paper obtainsseveral kinds of research results as follows. First, this paper establishes the ontologymodel of rumor spreading, including domain ontology and task ontology. Domainontology can be got from the knowledge of qualitative description in the field ofpsychology and sociology. Second, through retrieving domain ontology and task ontologyby LARQ, the knowledge about Agent modeling could be obtained. According to thosepieces of knowledge, this paper builds Agent model under conformity, which includes thecourse of Agent belief forming and the course of Agent mental reasoning. Finally, afterconfiguring heterogeneity agents, this paper performs several kinds of computationalexperiments in our prototype system. During the course of experiments, severalexperiment purposes are successively implemented, such as do research on the degree ofimpetus which conformity presses on rumor spreading, the difference on the degree ofimpetus for rumor spreading among different types of conformity, and the main items ofconformity in the salt-buying panic. Through analyzing the simulation results based onpractical situation, this paper summarizes the actual rumor spreading mechanisms andraises corresponding and operable mechanisms of refuting rumors.Through implementing the courses of establishing Agent model of heterogeneity,building ontology to manage knowledge in the fielding rumor spreading, and performingactual experimental design based on ontology, this paper not only provides effectivesupport on the new thought of computational experiment on rumor spreading,but alsopresents a practical and feasible realization approach.
