Metering pump, as a specific pump designed for accurate measurement of fluid, has beenwidely used in various industries of our developmental national economy. With theimprovement of the production technology and automation control, more strict standards areraised for metering pumps. Due to its poor control precision, indirect flow indication andunreliability, the metering pump is unable to meet the control requirements of modernindustrial production processes. In recent years, with the rapid rise and development ofmechatronics, a new revolution sets off in the field of measurement and control. Strictrequirements are proposed for the control of the metering pump.The article sets the low power consumption MSP430series microcontroller as the core,and designs a closed-loop control system for the micro-metering pump to achieve flowcontrol by controlling the direction and speed of the stepper motor. The main researchcontents are as follows:Firstly, carry out mathematical analysis on each component part of the control systemand establish the correct mathematical model for the entire system. In order to achieveintelligent control of the flow, a fuzzy controller is designed to match the control system.Using Matlab/Simulink to simulate and verify the accuracy and stability of the fuzzycontroller on different exciting mode of the stepper motor.Secondly, the function circuit of the hardware system, including the system power circuit,the button circuit, the LCD display circuit, the stepper motor drive circuit, the speedacquisition circuit and the alarm circuit, is designed using MSP430as the main control chip,the stepper motor as control object and the incremental photoelectric encoder as feedbackelement for detection. Write and debug software program which fit the hardware system withIAR Embedded Workbench. Combination of hardware and software guarantees theimplementation of buttons control of the stepper motor rotation status, visual display of thestepper motor speed, photoelectric encoder acquisition and alarm functions.Finally, an upper computer controlled display interface for micro-metering pump in anoperating mode with intuitive display system and flow data is designed using Visual Basic(VB) upper computer software. In order to realize the communication between the upper andlower computer, a standard RS232serial interface is employed. The upper computer callsfuzzy PID operation through the COM component to achieve precise control of the flow.
