The networking needs of physical world and expansion needs of information world gave birth to a new type of network-the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT uses Internet and traditional telecommunications network as the information carrier, through RFID and wireless sensor and other information sensing device to achieve interoperability of network functions, so that ordinary physical objects can be independently addressed. With the rapid development of the IoT industry, as an important support technology of IoT sense layers, wireless sensor network becomes a focus research in the field of IoT technology.Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) can monitor a target area through wireless network receiving data from thousands of sensor nodes previously laid in the target regions. Routing protocol is the foundation of data transmission, so routing protocol is one of the key protocol to ensure the WSN efficient communication. Due to the resources of nodes in wireless sensor network are limited, and generally can’t add energy. To design performance efficient wireless sensor network routing protocol is great significance, so this paper choose the WSN routing protocols to study.Through studying the variety of wireless sensor network routing protocols which proposed by many research scholars and institutions, and considering combination of theoretical and practical, we choice CTP protocol to study. CTP protocol has been widely applied in the practical application of WSN system. We also study the implementation of CTP protocol in TinyOS. Based on the analysis of the principles of t CTP, this paper pointed out the problem of load imbalance in CTP. The problem may influence the network energy consumption and network survival time. To address load imbalance, we propose V-CTP which is a load balance routing protocol in WSN. When V-CTP protocol selection link metric, considering the number of child nodes and sub-optimal path for data forwarding, designed the virtual link index v-eetx, and use this metric for routing. In this paper, we design and implement V-CTP through keep good mechanism of CTP and solve load imbalance problem. Finally, we carry a large number of experiments to test the performance of V-CTP and CTP. The experimental results show that the V-CTP under the premise that guarantee the reliability of data transmission, to solve the weakness of the CTP protocol, realize the load balance, reduce the network energy consumption and prolong the network life time.
