Throughout the development of China’s television media, TV variety show has become one of the most popular program types in addition to news program. A variety of educational programs, talk shows, game shows and reality shows filled with television screens. The TV stations even take variety show as their magic weapon to compete in the fierce ratings competition. A successful variety show, not only on innovative production, and also includes successful marketing and long-term development, etc. Therefore, in order to provide a reference for the future operation of the variety show, this article analyzes the management operation of the TV variety show from the pre-production stage, broadcast stage and subsequent stage.Nowadays, the introduction of foreign programming model has been seen everywhere. Pattern of early introduction is basically a visual imitation of foreign programs, this approach could easily lead to a purely "shan zhai" program and is difficult to succeed. In recent years, copyright co-operation began to receive attention and achieved great success. TV state completely copies the programming method through purchasing the programming model. However, the introduction of foreign programming mode only makes the program production a convenient channel. To make the program obtaining the corresponding economic and social benefits, it is inseparable from the operational planning and management of the entire process.TV variety show operational chain includes preparatory works, mid-broadcast stage managements and later period works. Preparatory works include proposing ideas, conducting program production, program financing and investment analysis. Mid-broadcast stage managements include marketing of program content and program gap advertisement. While the later period works, including the subsequent development of derivative products and branding works. This chain is the largest object of variety show operational management. The managers need to consider how to make the program gaining the greatest possible economic and social benefits. Therefore, this paper will analyze the operational management works of each stage. In research methods, this article will combine the literature review and case studies to let case studies better reflect the contents of the literature review analysis.Preparatory works include program production management and financial cost management. This paper explains the programming model in the traditional mode and creative mode. Financial management should be analyzed throughout the whole process. In order to making the level more clearly, financial management analysis is put to the preparatory works stage. For the operational analysis of broadcast stage, this paper focuses on the marketing analysis, including marketing analysis of program content and advertisement. The effect of pre-broadcast marketing is often very limited. The audience and advertisers are difficult to judge the program before watching the full program edition. Follow-up management includes derived products development and brand maintenance. Through the analysis of various derivative product development paths, managers can choose the right derivative product to develop based on these analysis. This paper also discuss the brand management of variety show from the brand positioning, design, maintain and protection.The above operational management value chain analysis is merely a theoretical analysis. In the part6, I will analysis a representative variety show "The Voice of China". The show is representative of copyright introduction programs. It also innovate the programming mode. Through detailed analysis of the "The Voice of China", this paper is willing to obtain the future available experience that other program managers can learn.
