With the expanding scale of the Internet, the network needs to provide a variety of new type of services, and to ensure good performance from end to end, especially for high real-time network applications. In order to achieve a stable, high quality services when single point of network failure occurs, service migration technology is coming out. But today service migration technology focus on some kinds of applications, not solve service migration problem fundamentally when network or service failure cases. The reason is because the traditional Internet architecture is used in a "fixed, wired" connection-oriented. While establishing a connection, the information of the end-host is bound at first. There is lack of flexible and effective consultation mechanism. When the network is change, it is difficult to manage connection flexible. This thesis relying on the work of National Basic Research Program of China (973Program) topics designs CID (Connection Identifier) based on Linux, and use CID achieve service migration in the network or service failure. Firstly, we specific design and implement Connection Identifier in Linux. Secondly, we introduce a design of service migration in Universal Network with connection identifier. In particular, we use the Mplayer which is a video player as a test of service migration. Finally, programming and testing capabilities of connection identifier in Linux. There are some features:1) Connection Identifier is designed and implemented in Linux kernel which complies with the idea of Universal Network. It is a universal design which overcomes the limitations.2) In Universal Network we use Connection Identifier to achieve services with resources to connections and to routing, instead of URL to IP address only once, we emphasis on service-oriented obtain t resources.3) We use dual protocol stack in Linux Kernel. In this way, user can choose the way obtain services according to their-preferences. It is contribute to the actual deployment.
