Waveguide slot array has compact structure, large power capacity and it is easy tocontrol aperture distribution, so it is widely used in radio and radar communication fields inrecent years. Ridge waveguide received more and more attention as a deformation structure ofrectangular waveguide, due to its main mode has low cutoff frequencies, low impedance andwideband and so on.This dissertation describes the background and researches status inboard and abroad ofwaveguide slot array, and analyzes equivalent circuit of waveguide slot array in different slotforms, then analyzes principle and the corresponding equivalent circuit of standing wavearray and traveling wave array. Followed analyzes cutoff wavelength of the single ridgewaveguide and caliber comprehensive method.The excitation and conductivity distribution of8-slot single ridge waveguide slot arrayare calculated by use of Taylor caliber comprehensive method and Matlab programming, gapparameter is extracted by using the optimization of HFSS, the simulation model of8-slotsingle ridge waveguide slot array with rectangular slot, single hole and double arc slot isestablished and the characteristics of slot array is simulated and researched. The results showthat single ridge waveguide slot array has wider bandwidth, higher gain and lower side lobecompared with the rectangular waveguide, single hole slot has almost no radiation, double arcslot can effectively expand bandwidth of slot array, but the gain declines and the side lobeincreases. Simulated and analyzed the influence of single hole slot with different hole radiusand double arc slot with different radius and center distance for the characteristics of slotarray, the results show that single hole slot has almost no radiation and has nothing to do withhole radius, with the increasing of radius, the gain declines and the side lobe increases, withthe increasing of center distance, the gain increases and the side lobe declines, but the changeof radius and center distance has little influence on3dB beam width.The gain of slot array is low when the number of slots is less, the most direct way is toincrease the number of slots. Designed single ridge waveguide slot array antenna of32-slotwith rectangular and double arc slot on the basis of8-slot array, and simulated and analyzedthe characteristics of antenna. The result show that the increase of slot can improve the gain ofantenna, double circular slot array antenna has better bandwidth characteristic compared withthe rectangular waveguide rectangular slot array antenna, but the gain declines and the sidelobe increases, the simulation results can match the theoretical analysis. The results canprovide a reference for applications of the ridge waveguide in the communications and radarantenna fields.
