IEC61850and IEC61970standards are respectively developed by theInternational Electrotechnical Commission Techincal Committee57for substation“real-time” communications and for control center communications. However,different standards used making it difficult for normal information andcommunication between the substation and control center, so the harmonization of theIEC61850model and CIM is an important issue in the field of power systems. Tosolve this problem, the researchers from several countries developed a number ofstudies and proposed a variety of solutions, where the solution based ontology has theadvantage in the future.In this thesis, implementation techniques in the harmonization of the IEC61850model and CIM were studied. The works are as follow:First, on the basis of comparison of the two fields in information model andservice model, based on ontology modeling theory, a solution based on ontology isdesigned.Second, the model harmonization related enabling technolgies are studied. Thoseare: ontology modeling technology is used to constructed IEC61850and CIMontology model, ontology mapping technology is used to generate SWRL rules fromIEC61850and CIM model. Format conversion technology is used to transformontology class definition and SWRL rules into knowledge with Jess format for thereasoning system. Jess inference engine is applied with knowledge base to buildreasonning system to achieve reasoning capabilities in IEC61850and CIM modelharmonization. In addition,other technologies have also been introduced.Third, a configuration example using SCL is demonstrated to show and validatethe ontology-based model harmonization solution desgned in this thesis.The ontology-based model harmonization solution has the capability ofdescribing things detail and accurate with the semantic level, which has the advantagefor information representation for harmonization of the IEC61850and CIM, but thetechnologies involved in the process are lot, an ontology-based tool covering theharmonization process should be developed in the ruture.
