Oil and natural gas are the important economic strategic resources, and natural gas is an important kind of clean energy, its characteristics of quality and efficient decide the broad application prospects, its safe storage is directly related to national economy and people’s livelihood and national security. Salt cavern has the characteristics of huge volume, high plasticity, good seal, security and stability, which formed by mined salt mine, so many countries in the word use salt cavern to store oil and gas, and build their security system of energy strategy, this storage method has advantages of large storage capacity, long durability, saving investment, safety and environmental protection, practicality is much higher than other storage methods.In this paper, a monitoring system of three-dimensional geomorphology detector for salt cavern based on VC++is designed, which combined with the actual needs in view of the broad application prospects of salt cavern and the simple and practical principles. By the control of MSComm serial communication and technology of VFW video capture, the real-time monitoring of the three-dimensional geomorphology detector for salt cavern is realized through RS232standard serial interface and optical fiber technology, which guarantees the safety in use of salt cavern.The communication functions between upper computer (ground PC monitoring system) and lower computer (underground single chip microcomputer control system) are realized through the control of MSComm serial communication. By sending control commands, PC receives operating parameters of the lower computer detector, including the heading angle, battery power and temperature data, processes data and displays on PC, then adjusts the heading and controls the velocity of detector.Lower computer system collects the landform information of salt cavern by sonar image instrument, uploads to PC and forms the three-dimensional geomorphology video images of salt cavern through optical fiber. Host PC processes data and real-timely displays video images on the interface of monitoring system through VFW video software kit, then sets specific storage space in memory and saves video information to view and research in the future.The system is designed by programming method of modular structure, which has the characteristics of flexible structure, simple programming, friendly interface, reliable operation, overcomes the shortcomings of original technology in data communication discontinuity and video display delay, achieves the motion control of detector and real-time display of three-dimensional geomorphology video images for salt cavern, provides a new and convenient method for the detection of underground deep salt caverns, and has broad application prospects.
