Integrated hydraulic system is widely used in modern mechanical equipment, and the design of hydraulic manifold block is a key link. With the development of hydraulic technology, the function of the hydraulic system is becoming more and more complex, so its degree of integration improves constantly. In present the relation between each step must be considered comprehensively in the design process of hydraulic manifold block, and then the design scheme must be adjusted constantly. Therefore, the complexity of design process is increased. In the design process of the standard orifices in the valve block, not only do designers need to design the oil hole and the threaded hole features, but also need to search dimension information that is corresponding to different hydraulic valve models, then the relative position is adjusted among the hole features. Much repeated work of the design process lead to the design cycle is extended and the competitive advantage of product is reduced.The present development situation of domestic and foreign CAD system of hydraulic manifold blocks has been analyzed. Then the deficiencies of existing hydraulic manifold block3D design software system have been summarized. And the method of "Virtual-Actual Combination" assembly is proposed. A group of virtual hole features and corresponding3D model of the hydraulic components are assembled together, and the mounting hole (threaded hole、oil hole)features are automatically generated on the hydraulic element mounting surface. It is equivalent to a solid hole model in the hydraulic element mounting surface is established directly. The corresponding constrained relationship between the hole features and components has been established, so integration of them has been achieved. When the placement of component has been changed, the corresponding holes can move with them automatically. Therefore the hydraulic elements can be placed freely in the valve block. The mounting holes of hydraulic components are considered as standard, and the hydraulic manifold block system is established. The standard mounting hole features model database has been established through the analysis to the characteristics of hydraulic components and the mounting hole information of the bottom face. The workload of establishment valve block hole features can be greatly reduced by the applying the design system of hydraulic manifold block. Only three parameters(X coordinates, Y coordinates, the rotation angle) of a critical point are needed to determine, the corresponding standard hole features can be automatically generated on the valve blocks.Based on the research and summary of advanced development method of Pro/E, the development method of the hydraulic manifold block design system based on UDF and Pro/Toolkit had been confirmed. The reference relationship between dimensions parameters has been ensured after analyzing the standard mounting holes of hydraulic components characteristics from Rexroth company, and the topological relation structure database of hydraulic components has also been finished, and the information of corresponding holes data can be stored in database. The model base is created based on the UDF in Pro/E and variable parameter had been picked up on the base of the standard mounting hole information.After ODBC data source had been set in the platform of Win7system, the functions defined in Pro/Toolkit that is seamless interface of Pro/E had been invoked in VC++2005, the parametric design plug-in of valve block had been generated. Besides, tree control had been set and the man-machine interface of hydraulic manifold block design system had been finished, and a running DLL application has been generated. Based on the analysis to the characteristics of hydraulic components manifold block, the tree control structure and content in the hydraulic manifold block design system has be confirmed.In the process of the design of rolling mill’s hydraulic manifold block, the model of rolling mill valve block had been designed by applying the plug-in of valve block; the design of the standard orifices and free place of hydraulic component in valve block had been accomplished by applying the design system of hydraulic manifold block. Idle work had been avoided in the design process, and the accuracy of design could be ensured. The design cycle of the hydraulic manifold block could be shortened, and the competitiveness of enterprises could be increased accordingly.
