The keys of Measuring and controlling technology are:information collection, collation, processing, display and controlling. In a measurement and control system instrumentation play an integral role, any improvements for the measurement and control system for measuring will involve controlling tools--Instruments.From the fiftieth of the20th century, there’re four phases for the developing of instrumentation: analog instruments、digital instruments、bus instruments and virtual instruments.Thus instrumentation is getting intellectual、virtualization and networking. This paper will do some research on how to build a convenient, accurate、practical and compatible measurement and control platform.This paper discusses the virtual instrument development history as well the effect of technical innovation to traditional measurement and control industry, and some prospects of virtual instrument. At the same time we studied some instrument’s bus specification and protocol for design better software, especially how to union different interfaces.Based on the research of technologies of virtual instruments, we designed interchangeability virtual measurement and control platform, which can carry different virtual software panels.So the IVI and VISA technology’s research is must, we can shield the bottom I/O interface by VISA and make it be changeable to hardware by IVI.We developed virtual scope software with interchangeability, which can get and process graphics、set and trigger real scope. At last we test it with connecting to real scopes, it works like them and can achieve the desired effect. Detailed discussion list as follows:1. The conception and characteristic of virtual instrument, depiction of mainstream bus instrumentation, the connection between mainstream bus instrument and virtual instrument. Description of the relevance between software level and hardware level of virtual instrument.2. The IVI technology is discussed in detail, the architecture of IVI software and operational mechanism, the engine technology and configure storage of IVI. Not only comprehend interchangeability theory, but also implement it with functions and codes.3. The architecture of VISA software, common functions of VISA function library. Comprehend the call graph between IVI and VISA deeply, and try to understand how to write IVI driver with VISA functions.Expertly use VISA functions to manage instruments with different interface.4. The development of virtual scope software, complete some functions such as:the read、processing and display of wave data; setting and adjustment of scope and so on.The virtual oscilloscope and real oscilloscope can be connected through a variety of interface, full replication of real instrument’s operation sense, and add humanistic functions like conservation results of treatment, recovery save settings.
