Reducer is considered as a very sophisticated machinery widely used to slow downspeed and increase torque; it has a wide range of applications in various fields of nationaleconomy and defense industry. It has so many different types and every type has its uniqueconstruction with many various parts and their component parts. A worker must have tomaster every type’s construction to be a qualified worker. Assembly process is an importantstage to ensure product quality, due to the complexity of the reduction gear assembly process,unskilled labor’s installation errors or irregularities installation can lead to worn, leakage,vibration, noise and even the output shaft fracture and other issues, which lead huge losses toour country and the industry.Considering the design requirements from two aspects of economy and practicability ofthe system, a desktop virtual assembly system is proposed. The system is based on PChardware platform, combined with the modeling software Multigen Creator and virtualenvironment rendering driver software Vega Prime. It integrates virtual reality and CADtechnology, which has the ability of modeling and simulation, users can experience all kindsof virtual parts assembly operations to improve their skill levels.In this paper, the realization of virtual assembly software were studied. A method tobuild a virtual model is of in-depth research, the analysis of the STL, STEP intermediate fileformat and OpenFlight data organization method is presented in details. We use3Dmechanical design software SolidWorks and real-time3D modeling software MultigenCreator to establish the reducer model. In fully understand of the Vega Prime’s unique eventhandling mechanism and the collision detection methods, on the basis of the paceaged VegaPrime minimum system, combined with Visual C++.NET platform, virtual assemblysimulation system is developed. Vega Prime simulation software is used for rendering anddriving the three-dimensional model of the reducer, users can operate the assembly processwith limited desktop peripherals, and observe the real-time operating results, they can usedefault assembly process also can arrange the assembly sequence and path themselves.Thesystem which is not affected by the limitations of space and time, achieves realistic equipmentdisassembly.
