Vision sense is an important approach to human understanding of the objective world,Brain got70%of message about the world through the visual system. The world health organization estimates that there are between40million and45million blind people in the world. After a part of visual way suffer damage, Vision sense may be not repaired According to the current level of medical technology. Artificial vision could help patients with eye diseases restore vision. Artificial vision is that visual prosthesis is implanted in different part of the visual pathway and visual prosthesis replaces the function of the pathological changes of patient, it makes blind patients to regain some of sight.This paper first introduces the visual prosthesis research background, research significance and the current situation; then introduces the visual prosthesis image collecting module, and the background information of the image can be eliminated by dual cameras; finally sparse coding is used to extract and code image feature to prepare for the further study of the visual prosthesis.This paper includes the following content:1. This paper first introduces the visual prosthesis research background, research significance and current situation and build visual prosthesis overall scheme of the experimental platform, then we focus on the image gathering module of visual prosthesis.2. This paper introduces the imaging model of camera, camera internal and external parameters, stereo image matching. The parallax of the images collected by camera is calculated. Then we use the parallax to remove the background information in the image.3. This paper Introduces image processing algorithms applied to visual prosthesis, image collected by camera are processed by filtering pre-processing, histogram equalization, edge detection, corrosion and expansion, binarization, pixel lower. the main information of images is reserved and the secondary information of images is eliminated. 4. The basis function was extracted from the visual image by sparse coding model, the basis function is used to code the visual image. Image processing module, video capture module, a sparse coding module, USB communication module is realized by VC.
