ABSTRACT:As widely using of RFID technology has resulted in a great deal of various types of RFID products in the market, verification of the products becomes very complicated and important. Testing RF performance of the reader is a very important part of the RFID performance. As the rapid development of computer technology makes automatic testing system (ATS) be the main approach instead of the traditional manual testing, it is necessary to design an automatic testing system software platform which makes the computer control the testing of the reader’s RF performance.In this paper the writer proposes a three-layer progressive structure for the testing system software platform which includes user interface layer, test execution layer, and the driver layer from top to bottom. Each layer also communicates with the data storage module laterally. The main functions of this system are user management, testing task, instrumentation information management, testing execution, displaying, saving the current testing result, searching history testing information, etc. Before designing the automatic testing system of the reader’s RF testing items, the manual testing steps have be concluded firstly in this paper, because manual testing is the prerequisite for the realization of automatic testing. The interface and testing execution which should match up with the Agilent IO Library to write the instrument driver codes are realized by C#. The data storage is realized by XML, which includes testing items configuration information, products information, user information, instrument information and so on. It mainly introduces how to implement the software platform by three parts which are instrument drivers for testing items, the underlying data storage and the interface. The platform is scalable and easy to update.After finishing the testing system software platform, it is needed to analyze the uncertainty of the reader’s RF performance testing items. Currently, the evaluation method of uncertainty is the traditional GUM method in the radio products measurement field. The disadvantage of the GUM method is over-reliance on the testing data, which cannot accurately represent the uncertainty. The Monte Carlo(MC) method is used in this paper, which is a method based on computer simulated sampling, and can avoid the disadvantage of over-reliance on testing data. In this paper, the uncertainty of the reader’s testing items and the uncertainty components’mathematical models are analyzed by traditional GUM and MC method in detail. Compared with the uncertainty evaluation process of the traditional GUM method, Monte Carlo method has great advantages in accuracy and simplicity.
