Our country’s metropolitan dailys were born in1990s and through rise,development and plateau, they slowly declines along with the rise of Internet.In the “cold winter” of our country’s newspaper industry, the metropolitan dailysthat have a high degree of marketization suffer first. Due to their own attributes andlimitations of national news system, every step the municipal metropolitan dailys takeis very difficult. Domestic researches on metropolitan dailys are countless, but mostof the objects of these reserches are mainstream newspapers. Very few scholars focuson the struggling municipal metropolitan dailys.Today, information expands and big data is in power. Compared with nationaland provincial metropolitan dailys, how municipal metropolitan dailys, which are inconomically underdeveloped areas, to avoid becoming vulgar, declining and evendying is a problem that needs to be solved immediately by academic and industryfield.This paper chooses the newspaper--"North Morning" of Anshan City, LiaoningProvince as research object, using some research methods, such as content analysis,participant observation and so on, to explore that in current media environment, howmunicipal metropolitan dailys to change their own destiny relying on content strategy.The first part of this paper is the introduction, describing this study’s origin,meaning, methods and innovation, defining the basic concept of thispaper--metropolitan daily and analyzing the domestic and oversaes literaturesresearching on metropolitan dailys’ content; the second part proposes that"localization"" service" and "avoiding homogenization" are the three golden rulesthat municipal metropolitan dailys need to survive in all media age and based on thisassumption, this paper takes samples and inspects the paper content of "NorthMorning"; the third part, combining with the using form of current new media,discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the four links in "North Morning"micro-channel subscription, that is production, pushing, accepting and users’ feedback;the fourth part is the summary and thinking of this research.This paper aims to, through the study of "North Morning"--the typical metropolitan daily, provide experience for other metropolitan dailys with samecharacteristic and same encouter and popularize this model.
