Intelligent residential district is in the expansion and extension of the basic meaning of the intelligent building, it refers to a set of advanced and reliable network system for infrastructure, homes and public facilities which will be connected. Wireless sensor network (WSN) usually consists of a large number of sensor nodes, its application in the intelligent district is one of hotspots in the field of applied research on WSN technology, the design of wireless sensor network routing protocol in intelligent residential area is a crucial problem. As a result of the limited sensor node energy and difficulty in replacement of the battery, how to effectively reduce the energy consumption of nodes and prolong network life time, have been the hotspot of the wireless sensor network routing algorithm which is applied in intelligent residential area.The paper expounds the basic content of wireless sensor network (WSN), discusses the application of wireless sensor network in intelligent residential area, and puts forward a kind of suitable solution for wireless sensor network in intelligent residential area. This paper studies the characteristics, performance index and classification of wireless sensor network routing algorithm further, analyses the principle of several typical routing algorithm and sums up the advantages and disadvantages of these routing algorithms used in intelligent residential area as well as the applicable scenario.This paper analyzes the working principle and the deficiencies of MHR algorithm, and on the basis of potential energy field in physics, puts forward the concept of average residual energy of the neighbor nodes. To prolong the network life cycle, the size of the virtual force in the potential field is a selection criteria of the next-hop node, so that the network node energy consumption will tend to be consistent.This article also puts forward a kind of energy balancing routing optimization algorithm based on EEPB. It proposed a chain routing algorithm based on traffic prediction model(CRTP), the novel algorithm designs a threshold judgment method through introducing the traffic prediction model in the process of election of LEADER node. The process can be dynamically adjusted according to the flow forecasting. Therefore, this algorithm lets the energy consumption tending to keep at same level.
