Due to its high performance, reliability and unique design, CAN bus iswidely used in all areas such as automotive electronics, process industries,aerospace, industrial measurement and control,networking, especially incommunications of internal vehicles. The CAN bus communication simulationand test platform is an essential tool in CAN bus product development which canbe used to realize the design and simulation, product testing and fault detection ofCAN bus products. The common domestic and overseas CAN analyzers arerelatively homogeneous in the data transmission,typically rely on the wiredshort-distance connections, which cannot adapt to the application of mobile,wireless and other occasions.With the extensive application of CAN bus’,therere more demands towardCAN analyzer and more needs to be able to develop a CAN bus communicationsimulation and test platform which can communicate with the host computerwirelessly. For instance, in the process of development and test for movingvehicles, we can do analysis, diagnosis and testing using such a platform withoutthe need for personally sat in a car. It will greatly facilitate the work of CAN busdevelopers and testers.The main results of this paper:(1) Carefully analyses the development trends of CAN aaalyzer in domestic and foreign electronics industry to determine the theme of the article writing,(2)Carefully analyses the CAN specification and the arbitration mechanismof multi-node CAN bus to conifrn the feasibility of the multi-node simulation forCAN bus,(3)Analyses and compares the advantages of wireless gateway in CAN buscommunication simulation and test platform, uses the client/server model ofTCP/IP, designs the server-side and client-side for the platform.For the issue that most CAN analyzers rely on the wired short-distanceconnection, we proposes a solution based on wireless gateway and solves theproblem with the use of SoPC technology,VHDL programming,and TCP/IPclient&server technology on the FPGA platform.Experiments show that the platform is capable for the CAN bus and the hostcomputer to transmiss informations with each other wirelessly. Compared withthe serial connection situation in the platform, the data accuracy shows nosignificant drop. The CAN bus communication simulation and test platform hasgood performance in multi-node simulation up to16nodes in the condition ofwireless connection which is adapt to the application of mobile, wireless andother occasions.
