Environmental protection is closely related to the quality of human life. Environmental protection is not only a basic national policy, but also an important component to build a harmonious and resource-saving society. Therefore, it is necessary to establish an efficient, fast and reliable environment monitoring network. According to the scientific concept of development, the development of online pollution sources monitoring and controlling system is one way to maintain our sustainable economic development. Under the demand of the Dalian EPA for wireless, continuous monitoring of key pollution, the image monitoring software has been developed based on the client/server network.In this paper, an overall solution of a wireless environment image monitoring system is proposed, which achieved multi-user image monitoring and image management of key pollution. The hardware platform of monitoring system takes digital cameras as front-end image acquisition equipment, industrial single board PC as a terminal controller, and CDMA MODEM as a wireless communications network.A wireless computer network monitoring software is developed using Visual C++6.0 programming tools based on C/S mode, taking Windows operating system as development system platform. Some special technologies are employed in the modifying soft, including object-oriented software engineering method, multi-threading technology, inter-communication technology, TCP / IP network protocol and communication technology, and so on. Many functions of the soft could be achieved, such as remote image information sharing in the LAN and the Internet, access to image resources between remote client and server-side, and real-time parameter setting of the sites of cameras and monitoring of client at server-sideThe monitoring system takes full advantages of local area network and wide area network resources, with the features of modular structure, simple interface, strong adaptability and facilitating to be expanded and upgraded. In addition, the expenses of equipment operating is low, and a long-range unmanned of duty could be achieved. Due to the great opening and practicality of this system, the secondary development for special network structure could be realized according to communication design specifications of this system in the following areas, such as intelligent buildings, remote monitoring of storeroom.Practical applications have proven that the entire monitoring system run very well in the network.
