A Network Coding-Based Layered Multipath Strategy For Reliable Transmission In WSNs

The reliability of packets transmission is one of the important indexes of wirelesssensor networks (WSNs), and network coding has obvious advantages in improvingnetwork reliability. This thesis analyzes network coding based layered multipath routingstrategy in WSNs, introduces start-up demonstration test model into wireless sensornetwork update mechanism, and proposes a reliable packets transport mechanism inWSNs.Layered multipath routing obtains the network reliability at the cost of increasingredundant packets, which could reduce the network lifetime in the energy limitedwireless sensor networks. This thesis proposes an expected hop based network layeredalgorithm, and introduces waiting time to optimize the algorithm in addition. Thatmakes network nodes broadcast routing information only once while routing processand the packets transmission range is limited. Simulation results show that networkcoding-based layered multipath routing could not only reduce the number of redundantpackets, but also pledge the reliability of packets transmission.Start-up demonstration test models are widely applied to determine the start-upreliability of a product, and to filtrate the product with high start-up reliability. Thisthesis introduces start-up demonstration test model into wireless sensor network updatemechanism, and determines whether a link take part in packets transmission based onthe quality of the link. This mechanism could not only reduce the failure links influencethe network reliability, but also void packets transmitted through the poor quality pathseffectively, thus pledging the reliability of packets transmission. Simulation resultsshow that the mechanism could make networks keep high reliability after an accidenthappened in the monitoring area.
