In recent years, WDM technology develop fast for its high-capacity andhigh-speed rate. This thesis focuses on key technologies of WDM LAN.For the network topology, ring network is well suited to the characteristics of thelocal area network. We should comply with the principle of reasonable and efficient toassign wavelength of ring network. We focus on a graphical method, based on opticaladd-drop multiplexer (ROADM) with wavelength selective switch (WSS). Discussedthe method of wavelength allocation, in the42ring network which compose with twodifferent order of add-drop ROADM structure. With wavelength multiplexing, thesystem requirements for wavelengths are12and17. Compared to single-user ring(wavelength28) greatly improves the resource utilization. In addition, for a completeWDM networks.In order to improve network survivability,we need to have someself-healing protection function. In this article, we take a few simple protectionswitching method which is based on the use of optical power detection module, opticalswitches and other design4-node ring network protection switching architecture.Finally, with the use of optical communication simulation software VPItransmissionMaker, and as an example with42ring, to build the system, the power,the error rate of the system, the protection switching function simulation analysis. Inthis paper, theoretical and simulation results for the practical application of the futureand lay a good foundation.
