In the history o f infor mation perception, the wireless sensor network (WSN) isregared as a revolutionary breakthrough. T he WSN has applications in a variety ofdifferent areas, such as in the military fie ld, earthquake monitor ing, environme nta lmonitoring, Medica l, bus iness areas and so on. Due to its specia l co mmunicationenvironme nt and wireless communication method, the securit y issues ha ve become ahot research topic to be resolved. Among numerous secur ity researches, theencryption technolo gy has the fundenme ntal pos ition. However, the e xisting utilizedcomp le x data encryption algor ithms, such as chaos based encryption a lgor it hm, havebeen fo und to be not suitab le for real application. The reason is that the WSN haslimited calculatio n and storage ability. Hence, the first step to do research in WSNsecur ity protocol is to design a suitable encryption a lgorithm for WSN.The base of encryption a lgor ithm is the rando m number generator. The existingtrad itiona l random number generators are based on different methods, such as chaoticbased random number generator, quantum based random number generator, hardwarebased random number ge nerator and so on. But these random number ge nerators arenot suitab le for WSN. The y do not properties of WSN, such as limited comp utingpower and storage space, into account. In order to solve the proble m of limitedresources of WSN, we des ign a new random number generator based on thegenera lized Decima l-Sequence. The existing Dec imal-seuqence has excelle nt randomperfor mance, simp le structure, low comp utationa l comple xity, and sma ll storage spaceto be required. However, the adva ntage o f the Dec ia ml-sequence is that it has limitedlength of generated sequence blocking its applications. To solve this advantage, wedesigned this new random number generator by introduc ing new random var iable inthe process of ge nerating Decima l-sequence to get a longer random sequence andapplied it in WSN. The experime nta l results and perfor mance analys is demonstratethat the new ra ndom number ge nerator provides a good solutio n to the problem o ffinite sequence le ngth, and reta ins all the advanta ges with better random performa nce,very suitab le for WSN.Based on this new rando m number generator based on genera lizedDecima l-sequence number, the paper introduces a new data encryption algor ithm forWSN. It is composed of two parts: Permutation box to change the position o f each bit and two kinds of Substitutio n box with same process in different direction to changethe va lue of each bit. By this a lgor ithm, the or igina l data will be encrypted intonoise-like data sequence. Two kinds of Substitution ens ure a better diffus ion property.This encryption algorithm can be used to encrypt any origina l informatio n with anylength, suitable for the WSN. Statistica l ana lysis has proved that the encrypted resultsare similar with no ise sequence in statistcal properties. Meanwhile, secur ity analys isproves its high secur ity to defe nd some common attacks. The compar ison resultbetween new data encryption algir ithm and AES encryption algor ithm demonstratethat it outper forms the AES in the no ise attack and data loss attack, more suitab le forWSN.In additio n, the correspond ing one-to-one wireless sensor co mmunication syste mis introduced. By this syste m, the feasib ility of the new encryption a lgor ithm has beendemo nstrated with the imp le mentation result,the test results of its ability to resistnoise attack and data loss attack and energy ana lys is to be suitable for wire less sensorcommunication.
