In recent years, the safety situation in coal industry is becoming more and moreserious, grave worksite accidents frequently occur and have brought tremendous loss.To reduce the occurrence of similar accidents and thus reduce subsequent cost, it isnecessary to develop a effective real-time data collection and monitoring system forsecurity forewarning. At present, there are many advanced data acquisition andmonitoring system has been put into use. However, most of them are using the cablelayout, which is much weak in system elasticity. Besides, most of the systems aretechnically backwards and seldomly adapt multiple techniques synthetically, and thusfail to meet the realistic requirements of coal industry in data acquisition and safetymonitoring. All in all, technical innovation is in urgent need.To improve the performance of monitoring system for data acquisition in coalindustry, a new data acquisition and monitoring system is designed based on Internetof Things. its tree-like network topology is constructed through the ZigBeenetworking technique. The system data collection node consists of CC2530wirelesstransceiver module, temperature and humidity sensor, gas sensor and carbonmonoxide sensor, which work together to monitor environment parameters in coalwell. To allow the system to monitor the working scene in coal well, a video dataacquisition module is added in the system. All acquired environmental and video datawill be finally sent to a ARM9server, which is connected with internet throughhigh-speed3G Network adapter. With a customer terminal, be it a computer or a smartcellphone, people could monitor system environmental data and exchange informationwith server through monitoring interface. The main feature of the system is thecombination of ZigBee,3G and embedded technology, realizes the data acquisitionand the effective monitoring of mine safety.Through basic test of the system, error of network data reach the standard, videodata is stable. In addition, wireless network’s performance indexes improved greatly.The test result prove this system works well with stable performance, and meet therequirements of design.
