The spatial resolution is a length unit which shows the smallest value of the distributed optical fiber temperature sensor (DTS) can use to measure the temperature. It’s a distinction between the normal temperature sensors. The research of effect of spatial resolution on temperature measurement accuracy of DTS system has been discussed in the paper and it has a reference effect on the calibration of the DTS system.The effect of system performance on calibration of DTS system has been analyzed, and the research of the calibration has been introduced in the paper. The calibration specification has not been formulatedBy analyzing the theory of calculating method of the temperature, a method to solve the problem that it is hard to calibrate every point along the optical fiber has been talked. By analyzing the theory of spatial resolution, a method to test the actual value of spatial resolution has been shown in this paper.The hardware of experiment system for the calibration of the DTS system has been discussed in the paper. Two mechanical structures has been designed to solve the problem that the fiber is hard to fetch and the stand platinum resistance is hard to get close to the fiber. By using the.NET and the SQL-Server, software has been designed to process the data and generate the report.To verify the accuracy of the method discussed in the paper, the experiment testing the temperature measurement accuracy and the experiment testing the spatial resolution have been done. The solution of testing the temperature measurement accuracy of all the point along the fiber is that, only measuring the point at the beginning and the end part of the fiber and the temperature point should be chosen at the minimum and the maximum of the temperature measurement range. The method to test the actually value of spatial resolution is to choose3parts of optical fiber which are less than, equal to and more than the spatial resolution, and test the temperature measurement accuracy of these3parts of fiber. It is easy to figure out the real spatial resolution of the DTS system. To the system which cannot reach the standard of spatial resolution, a method to compensate the error has been discussed in the paper.By summarizing the research work of the project, the paper has draft a contribution to the calibration specification of the DTS system.
