In the modern society, young female showed on mass media always has "angle’s face" and charming figure though this kind of female are just the minority. These modified ideal figures through communication make young female know that "thin is beauty", they internalize these messages and pursue body shaping blindly. During this process, they may be gradually dissatisfied about their figure.The internalization process even brings the negative body image. People who have the negative body image would suffer from physical and mental diseases such as eating disorder, depression and so on.Body image is individual’s multidimensional self-attitude about his/her body, which includes three parts of perception, attitude and behavior tendency. Based on the relevant researches, female is more likely to suffer negative body image compared to male. Adolescence, preadolescence and post-adolescence are important stages in the development of body image. Female college students are just in this important period.Therefore, exploring the effect of micro-blog on their body image will play an important role in helping them form the healthy and right views about body.The previous researches focus on the influence of traditional media such as fashion magazine on female college students’body image and rarely talk about the new media. On the base of correlation theory, this paper studies the relationship between the exposure to micro-blog and the body image of female college students. This study adopts questionnaires to investigate the effect of Sina Micro-blog on the body satisfaction of314female college students in Zhejiang University.The results are as follows:computer and mobile devices (include mobile phone and tablet computer) have already become the primary channel which help female college students to gain information about cosmetics. A large proportion of female college students receive cosmetics information through the micro-blog and obtain more relevant information after using micro-blog. The difference between Individualreal body figure and ideal body figure has negative correlation with the female college students’ self-evaluation and body parts satisfaction. The usage frequency of micro-blog has negative correlation with the female college students’self-evaluation and body parts satisfaction. The time spent on micro-blog has negative correlation with female college students’body parts satisfaction. The micro-blog browsing quantity has positive correlation with female college students’ appearance tendency, and it has negative correlation with the female college students’ body parts satisfaction.To conclude the findings in this study, the paper introduces the female body culture in society and the reasons behind it, furthermore makes some suggestions to prevent the negative body image. In the end, the paper draws conclusions of the shortage and makes the prospect.
