Multi-station passive location technology has the advantages of well-concealment,high-accuracy and high-speed of positioning, which has the ability to target detectionof high quality and high efficiency as well as to improve the survival capability andanti-jamming performance of the reconnaissance and early warning systems, therefore,it has an important application value in the field of national defense and military.Passive research for improving positioning system positioning technology hasimportant significance in the viability and operational capabilities of electronic warfareenvironment. The main research work is as follows. Firstly, the performance and the advantagesand disadvantages of common time registration algorithms, such as the least squaremethod, the interpolation and extrapolation method, the adaptive linear interpolationmethod, and the curve fitting algorithms, is analyzed and compared between them. Forthe time extrapolation problem of registration, the Kalman filter algorithm is appliedand its performance is validated by simulation experiments. Secondly, using the MonteCarlo simulation method, the positioning performance of four real-time locationalgorithms, including the shortest distance method, the cosine positioning method, theleast-square method, and the orthogonal vector method, is studied and compared. Thesimulation results show that the orthogonal vector method is the best one betweenthem since the method can satisfy the requirement of accuracy and efficiency at thesame time. Then, three post-processing algorithms, such as the maximum likelihoodestimation algorithm, the three-dimensional orthogonal vector algorithm and itsimproved algorithm, is studied through simulation experiments, which mainly considerthe situation of straight flight, parabolic flight, sinusoidal flight of the target movement. The simulation results show that, the improved algorithm of the three-dimensionalorthogonal vector algorithm has higher positioning accuracy than thethree-dimensional orthogonal vector method, of which the accuracy is closer to themaximum likelihood estimation algorithm. Finally, the multi-station passive locationsimulation system is developed by our project team, and the test results show that thesystem can not only meet the requirement of real-time location of moving targets, inother words, the complete procedure of the time registration, real-time positioning, storage and display can be done within20millisecond, but also can validate the accuracy and correction of the real-time processing algorithms using thepost-processing algorithms.
